Peperomia polybotrya variegated - Raindrop

Peperomia polybotrya variegated

The Raindrop Peperomia has thick heart-shaped leaves, and this variegated version has dark green centers and light yellow green around the edges of the leaves.

This tropical beauty thrives in warm, humid conditions and prefers medium, filtered light in a well-draining cactus soil. Water with soft water in the early morning and allow the soil to dry slightly before watering again, as prolonged moisture can lead to root rot and drooping leaves. Propagation is best achieved by placing stem cuttings in sphagnum moss or directly into the soil. Be mindful, as 'Raindrop' is prone to root rot, thrips, and mealybugs, so regular monitoring is essential for keeping it healthy.

Peperomia Basic Care: Easy

  • Water: Allow the soil to dry out almost entirely—up to 5 inches deep—between watering. A watering schedule similar to that of succulents and cacti works well.
  • Light: It prefers medium to bright indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can cause leaf burn.
  • Soil/Drainage: Well-draining soil mixes designed for cacti and succulents are ideal, though they can tolerate a standard houseplant mix if they are careful not to overwater.
  • Temperature/Humidity: Thrives in average room temperature and humidity.
