Krauter Vesuvius Plum is a popular choice for the urban landscape for its striking leaves that emerge deep red and darken to a reddish-purple through the summer. While similar to Thundercloud Plum, the immature leaf color is darker and the habit is more upright. The oval form requires little pruning and is a lovely backdrop to the fragrant light pink blooms in early spring. While this variety seldom produces fruit, it is edible. Performs well in hot and dry conditions.
